The New Shackletons

The New Shackletons are a high energy, barn burning, up-tempo outfit playing songs you know in ways you don’t. It’s basically a western swing thing, performing an endless retro rockabilly dance party of classic and contemporary music. Formed in 2015 the band has enjoyed performing at the Red Truck Concert Series, Cloverdale Rodeo and have been nominated for several awards by the BC Country Music Association.

Phil Bell & Torben Brown have varied musical roots including jazz, rock, and reggae. Together this combo pack blends into a sensational country style, which energizes their musical souls and their audiences alike. They have an accessible and surprising repertoire of original and cover music which spans eras, styles and continents.

Torben balances his stage career as a music teacher whose wide-range make him a favourite. Though known mostly as a ‘chicken-picker’, Torben’s guitar sound is deep and varied, moving between tremolo drenched Americana on one gig, to sophisticated jazz on the next.

Meanwhile, Phil Bell is a working live and studio bassist who studied jazz in the UK before relocating to Vancouver and performing with a bucket load of stars.  Corb Lund, Gord Bamford, Karen Lee Batten (Universal), The Chris Buck Band (Warner/Universal), The Heels, Simon Clow (604 Records), Danielle Ryan (604 Records) & Orchard Sky (Royalty Records).
