Mike Henry covers an impressive range of acts flawlessly with style and charisma. His attention to character detail and amazing vocal melodies bring audiences to their feet at every performance. Henry was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. He developed his strong, soulful voice performing with the vocal group The Gospel Ambassadors. Reggae music combines the intensity of soul music, the light touch of ska, and the spiritual center of Jamaican mento, while it’s socially-conscious lyrics have gone on to inspire other musical styles such as hip hop. All of which ring true and through the Mike Henry’s Mostly Marley Project. And though ‘Mostly Marley’ are the go to for a feel good 8-piece band at summer festivals, their ‘mini’ version is offered on smaller stages as well. 

What does he do to warm up? He says with a sly smile, “the 1st set is my warm up.” He works out everyday because he feels that staying fit creates the energy he wants for his performances, and on an endearing note, he loves to start with a good breakfast. Being health conscious, and his love for being his own creative chef, doesn’t stop this happy city dweller from taking advantage of the variety of Vancouver’s finest cuisines. He’s fan of fresh air, whether hiking, skiing, or swimming, and a devotee of The Chiefs and The Raptors. (Yes, he was in Vegas for the 2024 Super Bowl!) Perhaps above all, he loves to laugh and gets his buddies together to take in comedy shows.  

But seriously…Mike Henry’s dedication to the greats of a former time is supreme and second to none. Mike is soul man and we’re lucky he is Vancouver. Dive on into the songs, they emanate from him with deep groove, blessed power, and enigmatic ease – as if they are his own. #elephantearsentertainment
