“It’s roots and it’s rockin’. If you haven’t heard these two, you gotta get out more. She’s on a what you might call a trap kit, and he’s plays guitar with the skills equal to Robert Johnson, Ry Cooder & John Mayer. Easily a Vancouver favourite.” Elephant Ears Entertainment
Harris & DeBray are longtime friends and musical companions who met in a rock band in Penticton, BC back in 1997. Shortly after their Lakeside Resort gig stint they formed Lesismore – a blues/pop/soul quartet. The duo Harris&DeBray was subsequently formed because their reverence for down home, on the porch, stompin’ and pickin’ roots ‘n blues had to be explored deeper. Stripped down like that, it resonated with festivals, concert halls and anywhere else that has a stage. These two have a new album in the making starting with “I’m Here” and “Shadows” and in combination with their own roots masterpieces, their stage repertoire includes Keb Mo’, Colin Linden, Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, and Howlin’ Wolf. So…how did they get this sound? Well, Leslie started singing as a child and her first solo was in the Christmas pageant at 8 years old. She slid easily into the pro category of musicians, and proudly opened for Bryan Adams, Tina Turner, Cheap Trick, Steppenwolf, and War. She’s a roots & blues nut and also a health nut (okay, she loves wine but…) who is obsessed with longevity. She’s a certified personal trainer and still works at the YWCA. As well, she marketed wine in Washington State for years, so she knows what’s good:) More guilty pleasures? Yes, Shoes! MORE SHOES!!
Curtis is a musician’s musician – humble, brilliant and a true original. His guitar speaks for him and if you’ve heard him play, you’ve definitely had your face melted off. Trained under the esteemed Gordon Boothe in the Okanagan and became proficient at an early age. His band “This Old House” opened for Collective Soul and The Offspring! Curtis wrote all of the songs on the Lesismore “As Much As I Need” album and is writing for Harris&DeBray as well as his own projects. He paints houses (which is apparently one of the best ‘2nd jobs’ for creative people!) with a crew of other musicians so he can stay flexible and gig whenever he gets the call. (A different ‘flexible’ than Leslie!) He’s a reader, a foodie, won’t say no to Beer or Wine, and loves buying – you guessed it – GUITARS!!
